Pesach is a celebration that is both religious and agricultural in origin. It marks the arrival of spring and of the first barley harvest. It also commemorates the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt and the end of slavery. It is important to remember and mark this occasion, as it is one of the major events in Jewish history. Part of the Pesach celebration is to have a Seder- During the Seder the story of the Exodus from Egypt is read from the Haggadah, and foods symbolizing the main aspects of the story are laid out on a platter (Seder Plate) and are served.
