The Pomegranate "Rimon" is one of the seven kinds the land of Israel is blessed with, cited in Deuteronomy 8:8 "A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates: a land of olive oil, and honey". Being full of sweet seeds the pomegranate represents abundance; fertility, prosperity, happiness and good deeds. The Pomegranate was used to decorate various utensils and coins in ancient Judea and has inspired many Jewish and Israeli artists that have included the pomegranate motif in their art. It is a tradition to eat pomegranates during the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashannah) for the New Year to be as full and sweet as a pomegranate.
